Collaborative Partnership for Sustainable Organic Waste Treatment

Joshua Christian Halim

UIC and TTT joined hands with IWBA to collaborate on this project, as well as showing the commitment and enthusiasm of the women's professional organization to the solution of environmental problems.

Taipei, December 29, 2023 - The Indonesia Economic and Trade Office (IETO) Taipei held the Contract Agreement signing between Unigreen International Co., Ltd. (UIC), Tetanti AgriBiotech Inc. (TTT), and the Indonesian Women's Bachelor Association (IWBA/ISWI) which marked a significant step towards sustainable waste treatment in Jakarta, Indonesia. This landmark event brought together key stakeholders committed to revolutionizing Indonesia through innovative waste management strategies and probiotic fertilizers poised to strengthen Indonesia's socio-economic structure and environmental resilience. The signing was witnessed by the Representative of IETO Taipei, Mr. Iqbal S. Shofwann, the Director of Investment Department of IETO Taipei, Mr. Ali Fauzi and the Director of Industry Department of IETO Taipei, Mr. Rifqi Anshari.

UIC is a company that focuses on waste management in collaboration with TTT, a company focused on manufacturing enzymes that can process organic waste into probiotic fertilizer in just 3 hours. UIC and TTT collaborated with IWBA to collaborate on this project, as well as showing the commitment and enthusiasm of the women's professional organization to the solution of environmental problems. This partnership aims to address the problem of organic waste in Jakarta which has become a national problem. IWBA hopes that waste treatment technology from UIC and TTT will become a role model of sustainable technological innovation, strive for careful resource management, and strive towards a waste-free ecosystem throughout Indonesia.

The collaboration highlights the multifaceted approach to waste management, which converts waste in Jakarta into organic fertilizer, an innovative process that utilizes organic waste and enzymes manufactured by TTT and reprocesses it from high-quality, environmentally friendly organic fertilizer. The Contract Agreement signing was carried out at the IETO Taipei Office as part of a series of visits by IWBA representatives to TTT processing sites in Taoyuan and Taichung and UIC offices in Taichung on December 26-29, 2023. This series of activities is expected to mark one of the important milestones of cooperation in handling organic waste in Indonesia.

In his remarks, the Representative of IETO Taipei emphasized the ever-high percentage of waste that has not been managed properly (34.2% or around 7.2 million tons in 2022) and the ever-high demand for fertilizer (amounting to 13 million tons) which can only be partially fulfilled by domestic production (amounting to 3.5 million tons) in Indonesia. TTT representatives also conveyed that they are targeting 2,600 tons of organic waste consisting of vegetable and fruit waste of 2,600 tons. Jakarta produces more than 70,000 tons of vegetable and fruit waste every day and to this day most of them are only piled up or buried in landfills. This causes waste to continue to mount and pollute the environment, hence TTT decided to cooperate with UIC and ISWI in overcoming waste in Indonesia. IETO Taipei together with UIC also invited Indonesian and Taiwanese journalists such as RTI, CNA and The Hub News to cover the news of the event.
