Taiwan Reinforces Economic Ties with Southeast Asia through "Insight Southbound" Event, Highlighting Digital and Green Transformation Initiatives

In collaboration with the Commerce Development Research Institute (CDRI), the International Trade Administration, the Ministry of Economic Affairs recently organized the "Insight Southbound" event focused on implementing the "New Southbound Market Innovation Marketing Development Plan". The plan centers on digital transformation (DX) and green transformation (GX), adopting an integrated and diversified marketing model utilizing digital marketing, real-time interaction, and other strategies to assist domestic businesses in expanding into the new southbound market.

As part of the 2024 "New Southbound Market Innovation and Marketing Plan", the Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI) conducted surveys and studies on target markets. It identified five major export promotion themes aligned with Taiwan's industrial strengths: Smart Logistics (Malaysia, New Zealand), Disaster Prevention and Safety (Vietnam, Indonesia), Smart Agriculture (i-Farming, Malaysia, Vietnam), Smart Living (i-Living, Thailand, India), and Smart Energy (Thailand, Australia). 150 domestic companies have been selected to participate in this initiative.

In a speech titled "Enhancing Urban Safety: Strategies and Insights for Expanding Disaster Prevention Businesses in Indonesia", Sinar Mas Land's technical consultant Sam Ker highlighted Indonesia's critical infrastructure needs in dealing with natural disasters like earthquakes, floods, and volcanic eruptions. Ker emphasized the significance of advanced warning systems and monitoring technologies to bolster disaster resilience and reinforce Indonesia's public safety and infrastructure development. The discussion underscored Indonesia's dedication to integrating innovative solutions to enhance its disaster prevention capabilities and improve response to the natural calamities that frequently impact the country.

The Insight Southbound event concluded with Taiwan reaffirming its commitment to deepening economic ties and fostering sustainable partnerships across Southeast Asia, particularly with Indonesia. The discussions underscored the mutual benefits of collaboration in addressing regional challenges and seizing growth opportunities. Looking ahead, Taiwan aims to continue leveraging its technological expertise to support Southeast Asia's development goals and strengthen bilateral relations with Indonesia. These efforts are poised to create new global opportunities, positioning Taiwan and Indonesia as pivotal players in the international market and promoting sustainable economic development.
