61 Indonesian Youth Selected for One-Year Agribusiness Internship in Taiwan, Strengthening Bilateral Agricultural Cooperation

In a collaboration between the Indonesia Youth Entrepreneur and Employment Support Services (YESS) program and the Taipei Economic and Trade Office (TETO), 61 young farmers have been selected to participate in a one-year internship in Taiwan. These promising interns, hailing from East Java Province (Malang) and West Nusa Tenggara Province, have demonstrated exceptional performance in the YESS Program and funded by agricultural public schools sponsored by the Ministry of Agriculture, through the Agricultural Human Resources and Development Agency.

Idha Widi Arsanti, Director of Agricultural Education Center, elaborated on the internship's duration, stating that it spans one year with the possibility of an extension. Successful extension could lead to specialization as a Specialized Skill Worker (SSW). Throughout their time in Taiwan, the interns will gain valuable knowledge and experience in the entire agribusiness process, from production to marketing. The overarching aim is to nurture these young farmers into entrepreneurs who will significantly contribute to the development of Indonesia's agricultural sector.

This internship program stems from the agricultural cooperation agreement between Taiwan and Indonesia, highlighting a positive partnership that has resulted in notable achievements in recent years. In 2023, 99 interns were sent to Taiwan, and this year, 61 interns are participating, with an additional group of 40 interns scheduled to depart in October 2024.

The collaboration between Taiwan and Indonesia in the agricultural sector underscores the strong bilateral ties and shared commitment to developing agricultural talents and promoting industry growth. Such exchanges not only enhance the agricultural capabilities of both countries but also make valuable contributions to regional agricultural advancement. The initiative not only offers invaluable opportunities for young farmers to broaden their horizons but also signifies a step forward in fostering greater cooperation and mutual growth between Indonesia and Taiwan in the agricultural domain
